Glasswells links up with DCE to support people with disabilities

Glasswells new Ipswich home furnishings showroom has linked up with local charity, DCE (Disability Care Enterprise), to raise money and host fundraising events.

The first event will be DCE's regular dessert tasting event, "The Pudding Club" being held on June 25th. Glasswells is contributing freshly baked produce from its popular on-site restaurant. A fashion exchange event is planned for October.

Andrea Johnston, general manager of Glasswells showroom on Ranelagh Road, said, "We're very excited to be helping DCE to raise money for their excellent work and we plan to get involved in several ways. Every penny raised by DCE provides practical support - valuable IT equipment, specially adapted wheelchairs and pushchairs and play equipment."

"DCE's work makes a real difference to lives and fits very well with Glasswells tradition of commitment to the community. We have already provided a bed to DCE at a special price and they raised funds by wrapping Christmas gifts at our opening weekend," she added. "On a day to day basis, there will be collection boxes close to tills throughout the showroom."

Glasswells already has a strong relationship with nearby Ranelagh Primary School and is sponsoring kit for Whitton Sports Centre Under 11s football team.

The Suffolk based business, which is the region's largest independent home furnishings retailer, is one of the main sponsors of Martlesham Music Day, which raises money for local charities.
