Glasswells Win Major Glass Contract
Glasswells storage & distribution division have just won a substantial contract to store glassware for food giant Premier Foods. Their 57,000 square foot, state-of-the-art storage & distribution centre, situated at Kempson Way, Bury St. Edmunds, will store all empty glassware in preparation for food production at the Premier Foods site based on the outskirts of the town. |
The objective is to be able to fulfil Premier Food’s needs to meet their critically timed production schedules for the major brands they produce, namely, Haywards Pickles and Loyd Grossman cooking sauces.
All the jars are manufactured by Rockware in Barnsley, the largest single glass container manufacturing operation in Europe, and are delivered directly to Glasswells. To administer and physically manage the contract, Glasswells have employed an additional two members of staff who are totally dedicated to ensuring the smooth running of the operation and continued supply to Premier. With the ability to receive more glass jar deliveries in short timescales, Premier can experience fewer stoppages on their production lines and therefore achieve greater efficiency, leading to larger quantities of finished product.
